Irene Crow

Irene Crow, 96, of Itasca passed away Tuesday, October, 1, 2013, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Itasca. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Itasca Cemetery in Itasca. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Irene was born March 30, 1917 in the Culp Community of Hill County to William Coke and Vida (Beck) Brush. She lived in Hill County most of her life. On September 22, 1934, she married Tom Crow and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1967.

In the mid 1950's, she received her LVN license and was very proud of being a nurse. For a time, she worked at a Hillsboro hospital before going to work at the Itasca Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Itasca.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Dorothy Margaret Farquhar; eight brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Robert Eugene Farquhar.

Survivors include her children, Wanda Fay Mitchell of Gainesville, FL and Robert M. Crow of Burleson; son-in-law, Gene Farquhar of Itasca; brother, Don Brush of Amarillo; sister, Betty Wilkerson of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Sandy Sport of Burleson, Karen Gray of Hurst, Michael Mitchell of Palm Coast, FL, and Kenneth Robert Farquhar and Thomas Jeffrey Farquhar, both of Itasca; many great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great grandchildren.
