Iva Jane Boortz

Iva Jane “Janie” Johnson Boortz, 77, of Dawson passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016, in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Mandy Brobst-Renaud of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Malone officiating. Burial will follow at Walling Cemetery near Malone. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to service time.

Janie was born January 30, 1939 in Coolidge.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Milton Charles Boortz; parents, Angie Louetta (Cummings) and Curtis Lee Johnson; loving sister, JoDell Cottongame; and two brothers, Hugh David Johnson and John C. Johnson.

Survivors include her sons, Darren Boortz and wife, Susan, of Mooresville, North Carolina and Doug Boortz and wife, Lynn, of Joshua; seven grandchildren, Kristy Palacios, Joshua Boortz, Meagan Tharpe, Ashley Gutman, Blake Boortz, Ryan Boortz, and Cole Boortz; seven great-grandchildren, Lance, Hannah, and Kasey Osbourn, Matthew and Covington Tharpe, and Ashtyn and Aubrey Boortz; one great-great grandchild, Weston Lee Osbourn; and many nieces and nephews.
