Iva Mae Collins, 95, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, June 24 at The Legends in Hillsboro. She was the daughter of David Miller and Minnie Laurence Rose. Born in Hill County, she grew up in the Lake Whitney area and lived most of her life in Cleburne and Hillsboro, where she moved in 1966. She was very energetic, a very loving mother and grandmother, and indeed a lady. Iva Mae was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed working in her yard, even mowing it with a push mower well into her eighties. She also was a devoted fitness enthusiast and walker, walking as much as 6 miles a day, and continuing to walk actively during her time at The Legends. Known for her great sense of humor, she was an avid ?42" and domino player. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Preceding her in death were her parents; and former husband Horton Collins; son, Robert E. Collins; two grandsons, Brent Collins and Howard Kelly Duck; an infant sister, Delma Rose; 4 brothers, John, Nolan, David, and James Rose. Survivors include two children: Billie Marie Gannon and husband, Jack of Houston; and Charles Collins of Cleburne; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved very dearly. The family would like to recognize and give their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at The Legends and Bridgeway Hospice for their compassion, care, and love that was given to her at all times.
