Iva Howard

Iva O. Howard 71, of Whitney, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her residence surrounded by family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Whitney, with Dr. Carl Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery near Whitney. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Iva was born on August 7, 1945 in Malone, New York to Marion and Margaret (Avery) Overman. On November 8, 1969 she married John Howard in Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2015.
She worked many years as a legal secretary until her retirement. She was very active at church and liked to volunteer at the Lake Whitney Food Bank. She was President of the Hill County Texas Education Extension Association, Cub Scout Den Leader, Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master and active in numerous other organizations within the community. She also loved just spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was her father, Marion Overman.

She is survived by her Mother, Margaret Overman of Whitney; Children, Jeff and Melanie Howard and their son, Duncan and daughter, Brittni and her son Carter of Bellevue, NE, Russell and Chelsie Howard and their sons, Austin and Jack of San Marcos, TX., Kyle and Cynthia Howard and their daughters, Taylor and Kylee of Axtel, TX.; Brothers and Sisters, Roger and Janice Overman of Andrews, TX, Art and Ruth Overman of Olympia, WA, Marvin and Lynda Overman, of Omaha, NE. Colleen Willis, of Jackson, MO., John and Janine Overman, of Coolidge TX., Daisie Overman, of Miami, FL., Rich and Ginger Overman, of Orange Park, FL. Herb and Diana Overman, of Winter Haven, Fl. And many other loving friends and relatives.
