J. R. Morgan, 83, of Hillsboro left his earthly life on his Lord?s day, March 12, 2006. J. R. wsa born October 2, 1922 in Wolfe City, Texas. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army in the 9th Infantry for six years during WWII and was on the second wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was awarded the purple heart and three oak leaf clusters as a result of severe wounds received following D-Day. After his Army service, he was again employed with Ford Motor Co. and retired after 30 years. He was a lifetime member of Edwin J. Kiest Lodge # 1310 AF & AM in Dallas and achieved the 32nd degree and was a member of Hella Temple Shrine. He loved his Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. He loved square dancing and traveling all over the U. S. and spent many summers in the Red River, New Mexico mountains. He resided at the North Texas Airstream Community in Hillsboro and will be missed by many friends there. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Jean Morgan; two daughters, Kaye Percy and grandson, Chad Morgan Percy, and Vicki Morgan-Bogart and her husband, Sanford Bogart, all of Fort Worth; two sisters, Doris Carroll and Annetta Stegman; and two brothers, Henry Morgan and Clyde Morgan.
