Jack Anderson, 84, of Whitney passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Memory Gardens in Weatherford, TX.
Jack was born on December 22, 1927 in Gastonia, NC, where he grew up, to Carl and Della (Brooks) Anderson. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was eventually stationed at Carswell Air Force Base. Following his military service, he remained in Fort Worth and went to work for Leonard Brothers and later Superior Meat & Provision in downtown Fort Worth. On June 19, 1986 he married Doris Bolding in Weatherford. After retirement, he loved gardening and woodworking. However, he gave up the gardening to travel with his wife in their motorhome. He was of the Baptist faith and attended church at the Sun Country Chapel.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Ross and J. D. Winstead
Survivors include his wife, Doris Anderson of Whitney; two children, Della James and husband, Howard, of Weatherford and James Anderson and wife, Roma, of Port Aransas; step-son, David Tumlin and wife, Barbara, of Fort Worth; three sisters, Reba Ray of Charlotte, NC, Faye Markelowsky of Marysville, TN, and Joann Mullis of York, SC; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
