Jack Beavers

Jack Dudley Beavers, 92, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jack was born on July 6, 1920 in Temple, Texas to Jack Leighton and Tommie (Andrews) Beavers. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hillsboro Jr. College. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corp. On December 11, 1943, he married Dorothy Hamilton and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2012. After serving in the military, he graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering. Jack worked for Tenneco for 33 years from 1949 until retiring in 1982 and moved to Hillsboro in 1984. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge # 196.

Jack was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Andrews Beavers.

Survivors include his daughter, Emily McMullen and husband, Bert, of Blooming Grove; four nieces and nephews, John Beavers and wife, Anna, of Richmond, Sallie Lyons of Spring Branch, Linda McWhorter and husband, David, of Spring Branch and Thomas Beavers of Houston. He is also survived by close friends Milton Smith, Debbie and Henry Karlicek and their daughters, Amanda and Carolyn; and his pets, Freckles and Beetlebaum.
