Jack C. Gibson, 89, of Whitney passed away Sunday morning at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Dr. Carl Jennings and Chaplain Herb Lammert officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home.

Jack was born on April 5, 1924 in Otto, Texas to Samuel P. and Ida Adaline (Bundy) Gibson. On November 2, 1946, he and Emogene Stafford were united in marriage in Mexia, Texas and the couple celebrated their 66th anniversary this past November.

For 37 years, Jack worked for General Tire & Rubber Plant in Waco, retiring from the maintenance department in 1983. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Whitney. A dedicated Mason for 61 years, he was an active in the Whitney Masonic Lodge #355, Whitney Order of the Eastern Star #930 and Blum Order of the Eastern Star #931. He had served as past master of the Whitney Lodge and also past District Deputy of District #62.

Jack was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling. He also loved dogs, especially his dog, Tuffy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and three brothers. His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Emogene Gibson of Whitney; three children, Jack Gibson, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of North Richland Hills, Pam Malone of Mansfield and Mark Gibson and wife, Carrie, of Azle; 6 grandchildren, Chris Malone and wife, Melinda, of Godley, Kristel Wilkins and husband, Jason, of Frisco, Karen Koops and husband, Charles, of Fort Worth, Andrew Gibson of North Richland Hills, Julianna Gibson and Lila Grace Gibson, both of Azle; 6 great-grandchildren, Blake Malone of Godley, Kait and Emily Koops of Fort Worth and Grant, Tate and Maddie Wilkins of Frisco; as well as several nieces and nephews.
