Jack Strange

Jack Strange, 87, passed away January 17, 2012 in a Temple hospital.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Bethlehem Cemetery with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Jack was born July 21, 1924 in Bynum,Texas to Otis and Nellie Mae (Branscome) Strange. He graduated from Bynum High School before serving in the United States Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Staff Sargeant. He flew 50 missions as a B-24 gunner with the 43rd Bomb Group in the South Pacific. Jack married Martha Dalton on December 8, 1945 in Itasca and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2004. He worked 30 years at Bennett Printing in Dallas, retiring to Lake Whitney in 1978 and was a member of Fort Graham Baptist Church and Whitney Lodge 355, AF & AM. Jack was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling as well as sharing good times with his family and friends.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Winston Strange; and his son in law, Dennis Paulson.

Survivors include his son, Tommy Strange and wife, Donna of De Soto; daughter, Jackie Paulson of Whitney; sister, Nell Ruth Dalton of Hillsboro; Grandchildren, Tracey Strange and husband Michel Lacour of Vannes, France, Jenny Strange and husband, Brian Nicholson of Dallas, and Lee Strange of Red Oak; great grandchildren, Auggie Strange-Turner, Beckett Frijs, Hayden Strange, and Addison Nicholson; many nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the Bosque County Meals on Wheels, 405 S. Hill, Meridian, Texas 76665.
