Jackie Shelley, 78 of Whitney passed away on February 17, 2012 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2012 at Bethlehem Cemetery with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Jackie was born on February 23, 1933 in Whitney to the late Jack and Juanita (Watson) Cook. She attended Whitney schools. On August 12, 1949 she married Perry Shelley in Whitney. She trained as an LVN at the Whitney Hospital and after working at the hospital for 29 ½ years she was hired as the first Director of Nursing at Park Plaza Nursing Home when it was built in 1964. She retired from Lake Whitney Medical Center in 1991. Even with a career, she always put her family first. Jackie was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney.

Also preceding her in death was her grandson, James Arnold in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, Perry of Whitney; children, Sandra Sue Arnold of Cleburne, Mike Shelley and wife Debbie Oglesby of Crystal Beach; brothers, Hoyt Cook and wife, Kay of Whitney, George Stephen “Pete” Cook and wife, Charlotte of Greenville; sisters, Wannie Williams of Clifton, Barbara Cook-Buzan and husband Joel of Graford; granddaughter, Tracey Lynne Cox and husband, Will and great granddaughter, Sadie Cox all of Vaughan.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
