James Coonrod
James Ray Coonrod, 79, of Whitney, passed away at Lake Whitney Medical Center on Monday, June 25, 2012. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 10:00 AM at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Brother Ken Steffen, First Baptist Church of Aquilla, and Pastor Walter Sanders of Rehoboth Baptist Church of Arlington, officiating. Interment will follow at Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington at 2 PM. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
James was born March 1, 1933, in Fife, Texas, to the late Edmon W. and Opal Ora (Rascoe) Coonrod. He married Georgie Lee Geraldon on July 4, 1953 in Arlington. A master plumber, he was with Tom’s Plumbing in Arlington for 20 of his 30 years in plumbing. From 1966, the couple had a lake lot in Whitney, before moving to Whitney permanently in 2005. He loved the outdoors, boating, and reading western books. He also enjoyed working on motors of all types. James was a member of First Baptist Church of Aquilla.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two children, an infant daughter, Janet Lee Coonrod and a son, Doyle Wade Coonrod; and two grandchildren, Dewayne Taylor and Canaan Ball.
Survivors include his wife, Georgie Coonrod; three children, Jimmy Coonrod and wife, Marilyn, of Grandview, Janie Ball and husband, Tom, of Whitney and Bobby Coonrod of Whitney; eight grandchildren, Chad Coonrod, Blaze Coonrod, Spencer Coonrod, Lisa Roden, Joshua Ball, Tamara Coonrod, Candice Coonrod Gore, and Brenda Coonrod; five great-grandchiden; and sister, Reba Pyles of Arlington.
