James A. Ford, 87, of Bowie, died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at a Bowie nursing home. James was born March 8, 1918 in Hazelton, Pennsylvania the son of James Albert and Amanda Lillian Seiwell Ford. He attended school in Hazelton, Pennsylvania where he was born and spent his youth. With the onset of World War II, he entered the U. S. Air Force where he would spend over 20 years in service for his country. He retired from the Air Force a Chief Master Sargent in October of 1962. On September 22, 1946, he married Muriel Anthony in Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple lived in Nebraska and later in Fort Worth before moving to Hill County in 1977. In 1992 they moved to Cleburne. Muriel preceded James in death on April 12, 1998. James was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. He also was a member of the Covington New Hope Lodge #652 A. F. & A.M., Cleburne Chapter #100 R.A.M., Cleburne Council #61 R. & S. M., and Cleburne Commandery #12 Knights Templar. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Phyllis Sterba and Betty Ford Urciuolo; and one brother, Nestor Derr. James is survived by three children, Myrna Anthony of Mesilla Park, NM, Linda Kay Furlong of Galveston, TX and Janet Avis Everitt of Newport, TX; one sister, June Evangelista of Hazelton, PA; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
