James L. Garrison, 89, of Hillsboro, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at Hill Regional Hospital. James was born August 24, 1917 in the Union Bluff Community in Hill County, Texas the son of Pierce and Bertha Thompson Garrison. In 1940 he went to work for W. C. Johnson Gulf Station. During WWII, he served his country in the Air Force from 1942-1945. During his service time he was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado, Japan, and the Philippines. On October 2, 1942 he married Grace Hill in Waco. In 1945 they returned to Hillsboro and he went back to work at W. C. Johnson Gulf Station until 1960. At that time, he went to work for Hawk and High Grocery, retiring in 1984. He also worked part time for the City of Hillsboro. James attended the Hillsboro Congregation of Jehovah?s Witnesses. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Christine Garrison. Survivors include his wife, Grace Garrison of Hillsboro; children, Pat Garrison of Hillsboro and Sam Garrison and wife, Marcia, of Peoria; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
