James Hart, Jr

James T. “Hoppy” Hart, Jr., 71, of Whitney, passed away on October 13, 2016, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 AM. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Rd., Dallas, TX 75220. A reception will follow for family and friends at the conclusion of the service.

James grew up in Galveston and attended Kirwin Catholic High School, graduating in 1963. He finished his college career at the University of North Texas. On July 18, 1970, he married B. J. Crawley in Dallas. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Dallas.

In 1980, he opened J.T. Graphics in Dallas and was owner / operator for 28 years before retiring. In 2007, he moved from Dallas to White Bluff Resort to enjoy retirement. A dog lover, those retirement years were spent volunteering at Paw Pals and also at Our Daily Bread Food Bank.

He was an avid painter and artist, something he did all of his life. He loved coaching football and for about 6 years he coached junior high football and he also enjoyed playing tennis.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, B.J. Hart of Whitney; daughters Leslie Haywood and husband, Kotto of Hutto and Jennifer Hart of Hutto; grandchildren, Malik Haywood and Aleisha Haywood of Hutto; a sister, Barbara Fulghum of Houston; a dear cousin, Ann Gaskill of Texas City; beloved pet companion, Dixie and beloved grand-dogs, Daisy and Sophie.
