Biography

James Barney Hill, 93 of Aquilla went to be the Lord on January 2, 2012.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Pastor David Snipes and Pastor Don Elrod officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Bend Coon Creek Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

James was born on September 11, 1918 in Whitney, Texas to Barney Gibbs and Sybl Horn Hill. He married Irene Shaw on February 8, 1941 in Whitney. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Aquilla.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Irene; two children, James Winston (Jim) Hill and wife, Sunny of Aquilla, Morita Steele and husband, Lanny of Hillsboro; 2 brothers, W. K. (Kinch) Hill and Darwin Hill both of Aquilla; 2 sisters, Faye Gant of Blum, Tress Blassengame of Laguna Park; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
