James Houston

James E. Houston, 67 of Joshua passed away on June 25, 2011.

Graveside services will be at Noon, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Whitney Memorial Park with Rev Shevoyd Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to service at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

James was born on March 17, 1944 in San Angelo; the son of the late Arnold and Bertha (Phillips) Houston. He served his country in the United States Navy. On June 14, 1964 he married Jerri Ince in Everman and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2006.

James was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines and was an avid sports fan being a true Texas Longhorns follower.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gary Houston.

Survivors include his children, Sam Houston and wife Brenda of Watauga, Stephanie Houston of Joshua, Machelle Houston of Fort Worth; sisters, Ginger Dumke and Patricia York both of Fort Worth; 5 grandchildren, Staci Hall, James Houston, Kendrick Houston, Tyler Houston, Patrick Jones, Jr.; 4 great grandchildren, Christopher James Houston, Devonte Myles, Desiree Myles and Alexxandryia Evartt.
