James Grantom, Ii

James Malcolm Grantom, II, 42, of Whitney passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Rev. Johnny Pelham officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the funeral home.

James was born November 11, 1971 in Hillsboro to James Malcolm and Frances L. (Curry) Grantom. From about the age of five, he began to display a God-given talent to be able to fix anything. During his high school years, he worked for White's Auto. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1990, James attended MCC where he majored in music. He was a drummer and played for many bands.

For several years, he was employed with Hillsboro ISD as a bus driver and in the maintenance department. He also worked for Leonard Lewis Sales and Service as a repairman. James later went to work for GE Wind in Sweetwater for five years before having to leave in May 2011 due to his declining health.

He loved antique Chevrolet cars and was an avid KISS fan. He attended Whitney Family Fellowship at The Forum in Whitney. Preceding him in death were his father, James Malcolm Grantom on August 31, 1993 and a brother-in-law, David Glen Middleton on February 9, 2005.

Survivors include his loving companion, Christi Nelson of Whitney; mother, Frances Grantom of Whitney; four children, James Malcolm Grantom, III, of Hillsboro and Leah, Ryelen, and Kohen Grantom, all of Big Spring; two step-children, Joshua Jackson of Hillsboro and Presley Archer of Big Spring; and sister, Renee Middleton of Whitney and Bruce Ward of Hillsboro.
