James (Jim) Jobe, 76, of Whitney passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ben Hollan officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Mertens. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
Born October 15, 1937 in Bynum to James P. and Lottie (Oliver) Jobe, Jim graduated from Frost High School in 1956. After moving to Dallas and going to work for Western Auto and Vaught, he spent the next 30 years working for Bell Helicopter in Hurst, retiring from there in 1994. He married Geraldine Hartis and she preceded him in death in 1993. Jim later married Darlene Philpot Archey on April 2, 1994. In his spare time he loved to fish and watch NASCAR and the Texas Rangers. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Leroy Deese.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Jobe of Whitney; two children, Wayne Jobe and wife, Mary, of Streetman and Lisa Combs and husband, Sam, of Midlothian; four step-children, Randy Wayne Archey of Soper, OK, Lisa Archey of Montgomery, James Archey of Hugo, OK, and Rhonda Hogg and husband, Roger, of Venus; two brothers, Tommy Jobe and wife, Donna, of Red Oak and Doyle Deese of Arlington; sister, Sis Lowe and husband, Johnny, of Milford; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild.
