James Ray Lawson 80, of Ft. Worth passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at his son’s residence in China Spring. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors chapel in Whitney.
Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the funeral home.
James was born on November 7, 1938 in Whitney, Texas to Vernon Castle and Margaret Katherine (Reid) Lawson. He grew up in the Ft. Worth area and graduated from Tremble Tech High School in 1958. On September 7, 1962 he was united in marriage to Carole Jean Fuller in Ft. Worth. James served his country in the United States Air Force fighting forest fires. He worked for Lennox as a forklift operator for 30 years, then went to work for Electracon until retiring in 1994. James was of the Baptist faith.
James was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed watching western movies, playing his guitar and playing Pinochle and forty-two. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping and liked eating chocolate cake.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Laverne Crump.
Survivors include his wife of 57, years Carole Jean Lawson of Ft. Worth; children, Clinton Lawson and wife, Deana of China Spring, Regina Sullivan and husband, James of Lake Worth; grandchildren, Jeremy Kacho, Kera Kacho, Jacob Kacho, Danielle Kacho, Michael Bettinger, Cody Lawson and wife, Gabriella, Johnathon Lawson and wife, Desiree, Liam Lawson; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Lawrence of Maryland.
