James Perkinson

James Perkinson


He was the son of James Franklin and Dovie Elizabeth Smith Perkinson. He grew up in Texarkana until he moved to the Masonic Home in Ft. Worth and attended the Masonic school. He married Adeline Massey on August 4, 1936 and she preceded him in death on November 19, 1992. He worked for the Dallas Transit for 36 years. He moved to Whitney in 1974 and served as City Judge and Mayor in Whitney. He taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Whitney. He received his 65 year pin from the Masonic Lodge in 2006 and was a member of Whitney Masonic Lodge #355, a Master at Keystone Lodge #1143 in Dallas and he was also a member of Anadahko Masonic Lodge # 176 at Lake Whitney. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Jane Weiss on May 12, 2006 and is survived by his sisters, Jessie Surratt and Betty Griffin of Texarkana, and his grandson, James Bradley Weiss of Lumberton.
