James Poe

James Poe, 94, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday morning, March 22, 2016, at St. Catherine’s Hospice House in Waco. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark of Walnut Street Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

James was born November 28, 1921 to Bundy and Effie Lee (Harmond) Poe in Hillsboro. He was united in marriage to Velma Scheler on September 24, 1945. He worked most of his life in the trucking industry and was owner of Poe Trucking with his youngest son, Danny. James was a faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step-mother, Margaret Ann Poe; wife of 56 years, Velma Poe; brother, Bundy Poe; son-in-law, Johnny Faglie; and nephew, Benny Poe.

Survivors include his three children, Jim Poe of Waxahachie and Jan Faglie and Danny Poe, both of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Scott Faglie of Fort Worth, Sara Boen and husband, Brandon, of Fort Worth, Katie Cole and husband, Cody, of Hillsboro, and Austin Faglie and wife, Suzanne, of West; one step-grandson, Randy Faglie of Hillsboro; five great-grandchildren, Granger Boen, Gunner Garon, Collins Cole, Hudson Faglie, and Carrigan Cole; two step great-grandsons, Seth Faglie and Carder Faglie; nephew, Tommy Poe; two nieces, Brenda Poe and Barbara Hunt; three cousins, Harold Robertson, Joann Moore, and Jerry Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Dena Wooldridge.
