James Waits

James Ross Waits went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2012 at the age of 82.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Blum Cemetery in Blum with Mr. Carl Jones officiating. There will be a reception following at the Blum Community Center. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

James was born February 7, 1930 to the late Raymond Ross Waits and Willie Era Vinson Waits in Blum, Texas. He married Cecelia Ann Taylor on July 9, 1954, where they had three children; Monica Gail, Karen Elizabeth and Daniel Ross. He served four years in the Air Force from 1950 - 1954. James worked at General Dynamics, and then transferred to Texas Instruments where he retired in 1990 to his farm in Blum, Texas.

James was Director of the Museum in Hillsboro, Texas. He was also an avid member in the community and participated as a Democrat precinct chairman for Hill County.

Also preceding him in death were his great grandchildren, Blake and Trevor Sykora in August 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Ann Taylor Waits; children, Monica Gail Lambert and husband, Tim of Lindenhurst, IL, Daniel Ross Waits of Blum, Karen Elizabeth Thomas and husband, James of Van Alstyne; sister, Amy Earleen Waits Cudd and three nieces, Donna Jean Key, Kathy Diane Wiley and Dana Lyn Broumley. He enjoyed six grandchildren, April Sykora, Cody Thomas, Casey Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Ashli Gann and Nolan Waits and six great grandchildren. He also had extended family and many loving friends.
