James Wells, 65, of West, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Plano, Texas. A private family service will be held. James will lie in state from Noon- 3:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2023, and from 9:00am-5:00pm Monday, February 6, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
James was born on April 15, 1957, in Hillsboro, to J.D. and Carolyn Sue Wells. He spent his formative years in Hillsboro, surrounded by many dear friends and working alongside his father in their family cabinetry business. After earning his Civil Engineering degree, James worked on the Comanche Peak Nuclear Project and the Superconducting Super Collider.
At the time of his death, James was extremely proud to be the Chief Estimator for Capform Contactors. He was eager to talk about his involvement in building soaring skylines and iconic structures throughout Texas and Florida.
James was an avid hunter, fisherman, concert enthusiast, and photographer. His greatest joys were family hunting and concert trips and photographing Jameson’s sporting events. While living in Hill County, James served on the local water board and was an active volunteer of the Hill County Youth Fair. He was also a proud supporter of St. Mary’s Catholic School and Bishop Reicher Catholic High School. James was a member of the St. Mary's Church of the Assumption Catholic Church in West, Texas.
He was a very devoted husband, father, and uncle. His family and close friends will cherish all the many special concert and party memories that James loved to organize. His quiet, patient and caring demeanor will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents; father-in-law, James Hocker, brother-in-law, Billy Widner; and uncle and aunt-in-laws, Leonard and Emma Lee Kaddatz.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy; his precious son, Jameson and wife Ashley; mother-in-law, Vera Hocker; sister in laws, Linda Polley and Brenda Widner; nieces,Landrah Polansky and husband, Mark, Lerin Lockwood and husband, Trent, Jordyn Giddens and husband, Blake; great-nieces, Jadyn Polansky, Bowie Lockwood, and Lola Giddens; great-nephews Mason Giddens and Thorn Lockwood; cousins Kim Wise and husband, T. J, Hadley and Emery Leech; and extended family, Anthony and Sherry, Elizabeth and Athena Grace Petkas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in West, Texas
