James “Jim” Albert Shields, age 78, of Whitney, Texas went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, due to COVID complications. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at Whitney Memorial Park with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating. Jim was born on October, 17, 1942 to Albert and Irene Shields in Weatherford, Texas. He was the eldest of five children. Jim grew up around Fort Worth, Texas. He joined the United States Navy in 1959 and proudly served his country for four years. After his military years, Jim worked for Wonder Bread, UPS, and then found his true calling in real estate. In 1961, he married Annie Garcia and they had three sons; James Timothy, John Nathan and Kelly Brian Shields. Jim remarried in 1989 to Roberta Emilie Prescher Womack. Together, they lived in Whitney, Texas for 30 plus years. He was very active and well known in the Whitney community and opened Cornerstone Services on Highway 22 with Kelly and Dorothy Shields in 2000. Jim was an avid traveler and had an adventurous spirt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Irene Shields; sons, John Nathan and Kelly Brian Shields.
Jim is survived by his wife, Roberta Shields; son, James Shields; daughters-in-laws, Teresa Shields and Dorothy Shields; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Paul, Brian, Natasha, Natalie and, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Evelyn; brother, Rex Shields; sisters, Jackie Womack, Loyce Hunter, and Joyce Johnson; brothers-in-laws, Harlan Womack and Ron Hunter; step-daughters, Debbie Wheeler, Cindy VanHorn, and Christy Womack; sons-in-laws , Ralph Wheeler and Charles VanHorn.
