Jana Crocker Stratton, 72 of Temple, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at a Fort Worth hospital. Jana was the daughter of Houston Jerrel and Ethel Selby Crocker, Sr. and attended Hillsboro High School where she graduated in 1949, and attended Hill College for one year. While in Hillsboro she was a girl scout troop leader and worked for Lone Star Gas and The Hillsboro Daily Mirror as a society editor. She left Hillsboro in 1955 and moved to Dallas to work for Southland Life Insurance Company as a reporter. On March 9, 1956 she was united in marriage to Donald H. Corky Stratton at Arlington Heights Methodist Church in Fort Worth. She was again involved with Girl Scouts as leader and with the Girl Scout Council in Pealand, Texas along with being very active in the PTA. In 1975 they moved to California where she was employed by Bio-Rad Laboratories as Human Resource Assistant Manager for twenty years, retiring in 1988. While in Richmond, California she was a member of The Daughters of the Nile. In 1996, Jana and her husband moved to Temple, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Houston Jerrel Jerry Crocker Jr. Survivors include her husband, Donald H. Corky Stratton, Sr. of Temple; children, Selayne Harrison Stratton of Temple, Donald H. Stratton, Jr. of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Mary Ann Bernier and husband, Gene, of San Pablo, California; nine grandchildren Amanda, Susie, Ray, Sam, Brandie, Daniel, Michele, Joe, and Kyle; two great-grandchildren, Sammy and Jana Grace; and numerous nephews, cousins, other close relatives and friends.
