Jane Green

Jane Green, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at a local nursing home in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, January 29, 2018, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Jane was born on September 21, 1933, in Brownwood, she was the daughter of Fred Duncan and Lucile (Dabney) Wright. She grew up in Brownwood and graduated high school. She later attended Texas Tech, where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts Degrees in Education. She also obtained a Libarian Certification from West Texas State University.

Jane married her high school sweetheart, Cecil Green on June 5, 1951 in Brownwood. She taught the second grade for five years, taught the fifth grade for five years and then was a school librarian for ten years. Jane really enjoyed fishing, liked to work out in her yard, was a faithful church member, where she enjoyed being in the church choir. She moved to Hillsboro, Texas in 1989. She really enjoyed reading, it was very important to her and she gave much of her time to support the Hillsboro Public Library, where she served on the Board of the Directors.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sister Minisue Reese.

Survivors included her husband of 66 years, Cecil Green; sons, Cal Green, Mike Green, and wife Pamela Green, Brad Green and wife Birgit Green; daughter Nancy Kay Dabney and husband Stewart Alexander; brother Duncan Wright Jr. and wife Mary; sister Adele Morgan and husband Dan; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
