Janice Joy Day-Hord died peacefully on March 28, 2019 in her home in Laguna Park, Texas surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Whitney Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Janice was born in Crystal City, Texas on February 6, 1945. In 1963, She graduated from Galena Park High School in the top 10% of her graduating class of 600 students. She met Robert Paul Hord on a blind date in Houston at an Aggie football game in 1963 and the two were married on June 6, 1964. Janice and Bob enjoyed 54 years of wedded bliss.
She worked as a dental assistant until she became a mother in 1968 and she has two children, Jeanie Hord-Bellows and Paul Henry Hord.
Bob worked for the fish and wildlife service and they lived in the following states, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina and Oklahoma. She helped to develop cradle-roll classes in several Churches of Christ where the family attended church.
The family returned to Texas in 1982 to run a jewelry business when Janice began to have issues with Multiple Sclerosis. She helped to manage the books for the jewelry business until her health would no longer allow her to do so.
Preceding her in death was her brother, Don Day.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Hord; daughter, Jeannie Bellows and husband, Charles; son, Paul Hord and wife, Roxane; grandchildren, Amanda Villalpando and husband, José, Oliva Bellows, Emily Hord, Alexander Bellows and Matthew Hord; great-grandchildren, Emilio Villalpando, Diego Villalpando, Areli Villalpando, Andres Villalpando and Cristiano Vallalpando.
