Janie Ball, 62, of Whitney passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Brother Jessie Motley officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney. Mrs. Ball will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the funeral home. Facial masks and social distancing are required.
Janie was born June 12, 1958 in Arlington to James Ray and Georgia Lee (Geraldon) Coonrod. The Coonrod family had property at Lake Whitney. They would make trips down from Arlington and enjoy the lake. On one of those occasions, Janie met the love of her life, Tom. She was already in love with the area, so following their marriage on May 26, 1984, Janie and Tom moved to what would be their forever home and raise their four children in the Home they literally built together. They would continue to build a loving environment for their family for years to come.
Janie was a builder. Not only of material things, but she built a family, a home, a foundation, friendships even confidences. One can look in the surrounding area and see a part of her skills in architecture and in lives. She was the biggest cheerleader at all sporting events that her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews participated in. Her voice still echoes encouragement in and on the playing field. She cheered us all on.
Preceding her in death were her father, James; two brothers, Jimmy and Doyle Coonrod; and two sons, Dewayne and Canaan Ball.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Ball; mother, Georgia Coonrod; daughter, Lisa Roden and husband, Greg; son, Josh Ball and wife, Lindsay; grandkids, McKenley Roden, Levi Ball, and Ella Ball; brother, Bobby Coonrod; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aquilla Scholarship Foundation: Canaan Ball Memorial Scholarship Fund through Citizens State Bank in West or through Pay Pal at PayPal.me/AquillaSF.
