Jarrett Dillard

Jarrett Merrill Dillard, whom most knew simply as Dillard or JD, was born May 12, 1939, in Bynum, and passed away July 24, 2018, in Italy. He attended Woodbury and Frost Schools and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training in Okmulgee, OK, before entering the U. S. Army and then the National Guard. He served his country proudly, and throughout his life, proudly supported veterans and the armed services.

He was a general foreman for Brown and Root at Comanche Peak, engineer for Bell Helicopter in Hurst, and engineer for Dart Container in Waxahachie. He retired from both Bell Helicopter and Dart. Because he had a love of working on cars, he also owned his own auto shop in Mertens. However, he was not defined by his work; he was defined by his time on two wheels. Dillard was a care-free, Harley-riding friend to all who met him and he loved telling a good joke – over and over.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Olen Ray and Lola Belle Dillard; the mother of his children, Sharon Gayle Broxson Dillard; and nephew Don Dillard, Jr.

Survivors include his daughters, Angie Dillard and Twyla Dillard Tasker and husband, Col. BJ Tasker; three brothers, Don Dillard and wife, Shirley, Olen Ray Dillard, Jr., and Randolph Dillard and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Jessica Reed, Jacob Baldree, Jeremiah Baldree, Shayna Tasker, Gaylen Tasker, and Sean Tasker; nephews, Scott Dillard and Joseph Dillard; nieces, Helen Dillard, Emily Dillard Jensen, and Kaelyn Dillard Morice; dozens of cousins; and countless Harley-riding buddies.

In lieu of a service, there will be a celebration of his life in the form of a motorcycle rally in October.
