Jason Garrett Schrader

Jason Garrett Schrader 16, passed away on April 23, 2020, in Fort Worth.  He will lie-in-state from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.   Funeral services will be held on April 30, 2020, at 3 p.m., at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Ricky Gobert officiating.   Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney.

Jason was born on November 8, 2003, in Fort Worth, to Jim and Shelly Schrader and was a student at Whitney High School.

He had a smile that would light up a room, an infectious laugh and was known as the ultimate prankster among his friends.     With his heart of gold, even at his young age, he had already touched many lives by not only encouraging his friends and classmates, but also by assisting our older neighbors.    Our community knew he was only a phone call away and would go to help them with whatever they needed.

Jason loved fishing and sharing photos of himself with his catch of the day.   He could always be seen with tackle box in the bed of his truck, a pole in his hand and his best canine friend, Doc, by his side.

He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ron and Kay Peterson and his paternal grandfather, Jim Schrader, Sr.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Shelly Schrader; a brother Colton Hays; grandparents, Dan and Cam McDaniel and grandmother, Betty Schrader; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jason’s name to the Whitney High School Mechanics/Shop Department, 1400 N. Brazos St., Whitney, TX  76692 or to the charity of one’s choice.
