Jaunita was born September 3, 1913 in Woodbury Community, Hill County, Texas to Elvie and Tersey Findley Brooks. She was born in Woodbury and lived in Hill County most of her life. She went to Woodbury Schools. On March 3, 1932 she married A. O. ?Jockey? Dumas and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1983. From the early 1960's she owned and operated Dumas Caf for 15 years, where she was famous for her pies. She enjoyed the Sr. Citizens Center activities. She also enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for her family. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Harold Dumas; a brother, J. F. Brooks; and a sister, Troy Barrett. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Survivors include three children, Billy Dumas and wife, Patsy, of Burleson, Gail Mont of DeSoto, and Randy Dumas and wife, Darlene, of Rio Vista; two sisters, Frances Denton of Woodbury and Corrine McCreight of White Settlement; an aunt, Rosa Mae Jean of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Larry Dumas, Erik Dumas, and Jason Dumas; four great-grandchildren, Emily Anne Dumas, Hanna Dumas, Ryan Dumas, and Dylan Dumas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
