Jay Cockerham, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation in Italy, Texas. Jay was born July 6, 1922 in Waxahachie, the son of Joseph and Martha Box Cockerham, Sr. He grew up in the Ellis County area. During WWII he served in the U. S. Army Air Corp in Europe. On April 30, 1947 he married Pauline Gorham. He loved to work and worked at several different jobs during his adult life. He was most recently a general contractor in construction. Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 sisters, Opal Anthony and Odell Crumpton; and 5 brothers, Ernest Cockerham, Harve Cockerham, Henry Cockerham, Chester Cockerham, and J. B. Box. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Cockerham of Milford; a son, Ray Cockerham and wife, Emily of Milford; a brother, G. D. Cockerham and wife, Dortha, of Arlington; a sister, Ioma Barnes of Milford; two grandchildren, D?Aun Kastor and Michelle Cockerham; and four great-grandchildren, Jared Kastor, Jordan Kastor, Emily Cunningham, and Evan Cunningham.
