Jean Souther

Jean Souther, 81, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Homestead Nursing Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Loving Cemetery near Loving, Texas at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Harold Braddock, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 6 - 8 P.M. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Jean was born to John Thomas and Vida Evelyn (Harrell) Wadley on February 6, 1935, in Graham. She grew up in Graham and graduated from Graham High School. On February 23, 1953, she married Jerry Souther and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1998. Jean was a housewife and also had the pleasure of portraying Mrs. Santa Claus at Walmart for 13 years. In her leisure time, Jean enjoyed sewing and doing various handcrafts. Other activities included being a member of the Peoria Baptist Church, Christian Women’s Club, Red Hat Society, and the Hill County Extension Agency.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Jan Mueck and husband, Bruce of Grand Prairie; son, Duwayne Souther of Hillsboro; and one brother, Harry Wadley of Bedford. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Skyla Hood, Jessica Byboth and husband,Kris, J.D. Souther and wife, Joyce, and Daniel Thoren; five great-grandchildren, Gabbie Hood, Emarie Hood, Aiden Byboth, Ashton Daughrity, and Jerry Souther.
