Jeanette Lee (Prieto) Montes

Jeanette Lee Montes, 55, of Itasca passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Crescent Medical Center in Lancaster.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Third Day Worship Center in Itasca with Pastor Noe Gonzalez and Pastor Alfredo Montes officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.  Mrs. Montes will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.  Face masks and social distancing are required.

Jeanette was born June 10, 1965, in Tucumcari, NM to Gilbert and Viola Prieto.  She grew up in New Mexico and graduated from West Mesa High School.  On September 4, 1982, she was united in marriage to Luis Montes.

She loved her Viejo very, very much.  Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.  She was the one they turned to for advice and comfort.  Throughout her life she made many life-long friends.  Her wisdom and cunning ability to find out anything was incomparable.  Her daily routine included talking to her mom, brothers, and sister numerous times a day.  Not a day went by that she did not look forward to her daily conversations with them.  Her pet companion, Diesel, was her pride and joy.

Jeanette was a member of Third Day Worship Center in Itasca.  She was very strong in her faith and a powerful prayer warrior.

Preceding her in death was her father; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frederico and Elisa Montes; and son, David Arellano.

Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, Luis Montes; mother, Viola Montano; children, Melissa Arellano and partner, Dustin Beck, Anthony Montes and wife, Meghan, Stephen Montes, and Sarah Barton; two brothers, Larry Prieto and Pete Prieto; sister, Donna Altamirano and husband, Tony; and six grandchildren, Andrew Arellano, David Arellano, Jr., Alyssa Arellano, Amanda Arellano, Kylee Montes, and Ty Montes.
