Jerald (Jerry) Dane Adelman passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the age of 81.
A Requiem Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church, Laguna Park, Texas at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 31, 2014, with the Reverend Michael Heidt officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma at a later date.
Jerald was born on December 6, 1932, in Faxon, Oklahoma, to Arla Blanche Atha and Paul Adelman. Jerald’s brother, Billie Wayne Adelman, niece, Teddi Adelman and nephew, Dane Paul Adelman predeceased him.
His mother, his first wife, Martha Burditt, their daughter, Donna Adelman, her husband, Paul Krittenbrink, and son Jerald Andrew Adelman survive him. Also their grandchildren are Carson, Kayla, Winston Krittenbrink; Morgan and Bayli Adelman; nieces Marlene, Shirley and Shelby Adelman.
He graduated from Lawton High School in 1950 then Cameron Junior College in 1953 and Oklahoma University in 1956 where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. After his tour of duty with the Army from 1957 - 1959, he moved to Houston, Texas and worked for several industries there. In 1988, he moved to Garland, Texas and worked for the Department of Defense, Defense Contracts South in Dallas and retired in December 1997.
In 1998, he and his wife, Annette Andrews Wood, moved to the White Bluff Resort in Whitney. He enjoyed several years playing golf and making friends at the resort. Jerry was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake, serving as Senior Warden of the vestry and as an usher. During 2009 he had several strokes, and in 2010 he became a resident at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney.
