A life-long resident of Hillsboro, Jerry was born February 21, 1942 to J. B. and Desma (Brannon) Clements. He was a 1960 graduate of Hillsboro High School and went on to attend Arlington State Junior College and Navarro Junior College. On February 10, 1962, Jerry was united in marriage to Kay Turner in Whitney. For 25 years he was employed at CertainTeed in Hillsboro, retiring in 1987 as a general foreman. Jerry was an antique car enthusiast who very much loved his ‘57 Chevy named “Peggy Sue.” He also enjoyed dirt track racing, NASCAR, and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M Aggies. Most of all, his greatest pleasure in life was watching his grandchildren play and participate in sports. Before his health began to fail, Jerry walked seven and a half miles each day. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his father and brother-in-law, Carroll “Tunk” McCauley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Kay Clements of Hillsboro; mother, Desma Clements of Hillsboro; two daughters, Melinda Landry and husband, Jeff, of Snyder and Amanda Clements and partner, John Mabry, of Woodbury; two sisters, Joyce Reed and husband, Don, of Whitney and Barbara McCauley of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jodi Kahn and husband, Zeb, of Arlington, Jeffrey Benton Stewart of Snyder, John Austin Pope and partner, Taylor Alexander, of China Spring and Tanner Ethan Pope and Hunter Joe-Bob Pope, both of Hillsboro; beloved pet companion, Ginger; several nieces and nephews; infinite number of friends; and the many young adults that looked up to him as a father figure.
