Jerry Foster, 71, of Whitney, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. No services are planned at this time.
Jerry was born on March 10,1946, in Lamar County, Texas, to Virgil B. and Flora Jane (LeFevers) Foster. A graduate of Grand Prairie High School, he also attended the University of Arlington. On May 24, 1968, he married Terry Lee Barker in Glen Rose. Jerry worked for LTV before joining the Grand Prairie Fire Department. After a year in Grand Prairie, he moved to the Dallas Fire Department where he was an arson investigator. He worked his way up the ranks to Captain and retired in 1996 after 25 years of service with the Department.
For 6 years, Jerry served in the Air Force National Guard. Following his retirement, he also helped take care of the Lake Whitney Country Club golf course from 1993-2005. Jerry enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but most of all he loved to work. He and his wife have made Whitney their home for the past 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Foster. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Terry Foster; mother, Jane Foster; three children, Stacey Patton and husband, Billy of Whitney, Mindy Foster of Little Elm, Scott Foster and wife, Heather of Miami, FL; two brothers, Jimmie Foster and wife, Dorothy of Plano, and Larry Foster of Grand Prairie; sister, Latresa Foster of Grand Prairie; four grand-children, Amanda Dupnik of Austin, Austin Phillips of Little Elm, Stonie Foster of Miami, FL and Alexis Patton of Whitney; and many other extended family and friends.
