On March 16, 1979, he married the love of his life, Sabrina (Keetch) Heath at Beacon Baptist Church in Haltom City, Texas. Jerry "Sonny" had a lifelong career in welding and steel fabrication. He was very talented and had the ability to fix or build anything and everything. Jerry was the real life "MacGyver"

Jerry never met a stranger, once you met him, you were friends for life. He would help anyone in any way he could. You could almost always find him in his shop building something. Jerry invited many to Wednesday night "Church" in his shop. His church consisted of playing music, pool, darts, and celebrating life with his "brothers". His "brothers" held a special place in his big heart.

He found a new hobby later in life of making moonshine aka "Sonny Shine". Jerry always had new flavors for you to try. Hunting also became a passion he shared with is friends. Four-wheeling, making trails all over his family's land, and setting up deer feeders and deer blinds always made him smile. With the bar-b-que smoker pit, he built with his own hands, he enjoyed smokin' brisket for his family and friends. His brisket and barbeque sauce were the staple at all the get-togethers. Spending time his grandkids was always the highlight of his day, he loved his family and friends deeply.
