Jerry Donald Heath, Sr., 76, of Whitney, TX, passed away on March 21, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, with Reverend Pam Foster officiating.
Jerry was born May 19, 1938, in Blum, to the late Earl Thomas and Ruby (Cobb) Heath. He attended schools in Whitney, catching the eye of Iva Berry, whom he married and they raised four children. His career in welding and building tanks spanned 40 years, working for National Tank Company in Electra, Trinity Industries in Fort Worth, and Holloway Company in Saginaw. In 1998 he retired to his farm in Whitney and opened Heath’s Welding shop in Blum, where he was known as “Grandpa” to folks all around.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, reading, and he loved good BBQ! He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and his grandchildren affectionately called him “Grandper”. A perfect morning for him was breakfast with his buddies in Blum and a phone call to his sister in Electra.
After the death of his birth mother during his infancy his father married Laura Muzette Cobb Heath who raised him and preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, and his former wife Iva.
Survivors include children, Donna Kane and husband Ed of San Diego, CA, Jerry Donald Heath, Jr., and wife, Sabrina, Terry Heath and wife, Becky, and James Earl Heath, all of Whitney; grandchildren, Justin Heath, Michelle Heath, Michael Heath and wife, Teresa, Britney Heath, Tim Gossett, Cathy Heath, Sydney Kirk and husband, Jacob, Tara Heath, and Whitney Danley; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Edna Curry, of Electra, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
