Jerry Jackson, 74, of Hillsboro, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at Kindred Hospital Southwest in Fort Worth. Jerry was born May 24, 1930 in Fort Worth the son of Jerry Robert and Edna Mae Custer Jackson, Sr. He grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from high school there. Immediately after graduation he entered the U. S. Coast Guard and completed his service in 1949. After the service, he lived in Fort Worth working in sales and also for General Dynamics. On July 5, 1960 he married Sandra Franklin. The couple lived in Hurst until moving to Peoria in 1963. In 1973, he started Economy Construction with his wife Sandra and continued that endeavor until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting for Indian artifacts. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers; and a daughter, Sharon Mendek, on Sept. 6, 2004. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Jackson of Hillsboro; two sons, Jerry R. Jackson, III and wife, Sandra, of North Richland Hills and Larry Jackson and wife, Hanna, of West; sister, Virginia Waas and husband, Jack, of Poolsville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
