Jerry Wayne McNew, 67, of Whitney, passed away on May 11, 2016, at a Hillsboro hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Whitney Memorial Park under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, with Mr. Harrell Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the funeral home.
Jerry was born on March 25, 1949, in Gatesville, to Edward and Louise (Warren) McNew. He was raised in the Webb community of Tarrant County and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1968 where he played basketball. On March 22, 2004, he married Kathryne Warren Wilson.
He served his country in the United States Navy and for 27 years, he worked for Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie as a chaser.
An avid reader, he also enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family and was especially devoted to his dog, Duke.
Preceding him in death was his father, Edward Wade McNew and his first wife, Doris Markum McNew.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryne McNew of Whitney; his mother, Louise McNew of Arlington; sister, Sue Mack and husband, Wayne of Mansfield; children, Samuel Wilson, III and wife Angela of Waxahachie, Kathryne Reid of Harker Heights, William Wilson, of Dalhart, Stacie Vessier of Arlington, Serenda Hannan and husband, Stephen of Kansas; eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
