Jerry Eugene Tucker

Jerry Tucker of Whitney, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  Services are pending.

Jerry was born in Georgetown, Texas, on April 3, 1947, to James and Jewel Tucker.  He graduated form Hereford High School and soon after, served his country as a Sergeant E5 in Vietnam, receiving an Army Medal of Commendation for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force.

Jerry returned from Vietnam and became a firefighter for the Amarillo Fire Department for a brief time before starting his career as a tire salesman and territory manager for Cooper Tire Company.  The sales industry suited Jerry, as he had a pleasant and happy personality, infectious smile, and a desire to help people in general.  Jerry enjoyed playing golf and loved the Dallas Cowboys.  His last weekend was spent watching Dallas win with his son by long distance.

Jerry married Marilyn Pugh in October 1970; the pair had two children.

Jerry is survived by his son Matthew and daughter-in-law, Trish; his daughter, Holle; his older brother, Eddie; two sisters, Diana Kay Kiddy and Gale Latimer; two granddaughters, Brittanie and Hailey; a grandson, Tyson; three great-granddaughters, four nieces and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Jewel Tucker and his younger brother, Gary Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Jerry’s name.

The family wishes to thank his neighbors Sandy and Dick Cannon and Becky and Brett Hudechek and the many hospice staff members who helped Jerry for the last years of his life.
