Jerry Turner, 72, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Phil Collard and Mr. Gene Edens officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the funeral home.
Jerry was born October 11, 1938 in Abbott the son of Edwin and Opal (Morgan) Turner. He grew up in Abbott and graduated from Abbott High School. From 1960-1962 , he served his country in the United States Army. On May 13, 1966 he married Jane Curbo. Jerry later went on to graduate from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. For many years, he was the business manager at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. He was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro and Hillsboro Lions Club for many years. For several years he served as the Hill County Republican Party Chairman and on the Hillsboro City Council. Jerry liked all kinds of sports, including car racing. His favorite pastime was being with his dog “Muffin.”
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Turner, of Hillsboro; sister, Linda Schriber and husband, Bobby, of Waco; niece, Penny Slagle and husband, Jack; nephew, Scott Schriber and wife, Flo; mother-in-law, Della Mae Curbo of Whitney; and brother-in-law, Jim Ed Curbo and wife, Linda, of Whitney.
