Reverend Jesse Albert Sellers (Jess) went to be with Jesus on December 27, 2021, from his home in Whitney, TX. He was born to T.E. and Lillian Velma Sellers in Kent Co, TX on December 5, 1933. Jess was 88 years old.  Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 3, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, with visitation preceding the service from 1:00 to 2:00, also at Marshall and Marshall.

Jess married his sweetheart, Doris Mildred Timms on May 29, 1953. According to Jess he had the one in a lifetime, curly black-hair, green eyed beauty, and could she sing. Doris has been waiting for her Jess a little over 12 years to join her in heaven.

Jess is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Joe Ben Sellers, sister Mattie Shuffield and Brother-in Law, Glen Kirkpatrick. He is survived by daughter Vivian Sellers Sumrow and husband Philip Sumrow of Pittsburg, TX, son Jesse E Sellers and wife Teresa Sellers of Whitney, TX. Jess is also survived by a brother Ernest Sellers and wife Ruby, sister Grace Kirkpatrick and sister Patsy and her husband L.E. (Gene) Benningfield.

Jess and Doris are blessed with 9 grandchildren; Jay and Stacey Holubec of Hokes Bluff, AL; Matt and Vicki Sumrow of DeKalb, TX; Clay and Meridith Sellers of Waco, TX; Elizabeth Cvikel of Princeton, TX; Cole and Meisha Sellers of Waxahachie, TX; Maka and Jessica Manutai of Waxahachie, TX; Adam Sumrow of Dallas, TX; Jordan and Ashley Sellers of Waxahachie, TX and Michael and Brittany DeFrank of Waxahachie, TX. They have 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Jess was an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God for almost 60 years. He pastored 3 churches over his career with over 45 of those years pastoring First Assembly of God church in Falfurrias, TX. When Jess retired from the church in Falfurrias, the mayor awarded him the key to the city in honor of his devoted passion and service to his beloved community. Jess built 2 churches and remodeled another during his ministry career. One of the churches was a new church plant in Hebbronville, TX.

After his retirement from the church in Falfurrias he dedicated his life to being Doris’ personal caregiver. He cared for her until her death in 2009. Jess also served as Associate Pastor/Advisor for The Sanctuary Christian Fellowship church in Hillsboro, TX. At his death Jess was a member of Abiding Life Assembly of God in Whitney, TX. He loved and served his church family.

Jess, (Daddy, Papaw, PaPa, Pastor Sellers, Bro. Sellers) will be missed. Your prayers will continually rise as a sweet fragrance before God’s throne. Your love and devotion to Jesus is the most precious legacy a man can leave for his children. You were truly a man of honor!
