Jessie was the daughter of Ernest W. and Nellie Berry Maple. She was an antique dealer in Carrollton, Ohio for over 30 years spanning the 30's, 40's and 50's. During this time, she also cashiered for many antique auctions throughout the state of Ohio and adjoining states. Jessie worked as a caseworker for the Division of Aid for the Aged in the late 50's. Prior to moving to Florida in the late 60's, she worked as a secretary-bookkeeper for Ted J. Davis, Inc. of North Canton, an interior designer. She also worked for an interior designer in Florida, Connie Snyder, Inc. In 1975, Jessie moved to Fort Worth, Texas and then to Alvarado. She continued working as a secretary-bookkeeper for the former United Plumbing Co. of Fort Worth, the former K-Way Grocery and Gas of Alvarado, and as a clerk for Alvarado Drug Store before her retirement. Jessie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, Ohio. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, the outdoors, all kinds of music and dancing. Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth W. McLaughlin in 1957; a son, Robert L. McLaughlin; a granddaughter, Linda McLaughlin and sister, Irma Robertson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joanne McLaughlin of Wilsonville, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law June and Robert Gilstrap of Hillsboro, Texas; grandaughters, Kathy L. McLaughlin of Westlake, Ohio, and Mrs. Dean Theresa Kimpel and Patricia McLaughlin both of Lakewood, Colorado; a grandson, Gregory McLaughlin of Flagstaff, Arizona; great grandchildren, Connor, Cali, and Joshua, all of Colorado. She is also survived by her step-family; granddaughters, Mrs. Gary Debbie Cole of Osceola, Texas, and Mrs. Daniel Susan Bason of Itasca, Texas; 4 great grandchldren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home Activities Fund, 2035 Granbury St., Cleburne, TX 76033 or one's charity of choice.
