Biography

Jim Farris, 77, of Ovilla passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to service time.

Born April 30, 1941, in Dallas, he was the son of William Burt and Malcolm (Asbell) Farris. He was raised in Dallas and graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas in 1959. Jim was the owner of SWFA, Inc., an optic company, retiring in 1999.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his two sisters, Dorothy Quinlan and Shirley Crosby.

Survivors include his children, Shawn Farris and wife, Stacy, of Red Oak, Chris Farris and wife, Andrea, of Midlothian, and Robin Farris Smith and husband, David, of Austin; nine grandchildren, Christopher Farris and wife, Sydney, Travis Farris, Michael Farris, Jeremy Smith, Daniel Smith, Paul Smith, Cheyenne Samford, Jacy Goldman, and Maegan Holland and husband, Isaac; and three great-grandchildren, Adilee Faith Farris, Myla Grace Farris, and Skylar Holland and former daughter in law, Jennifer Butler.

The family requests that memorials be made to your local SPCA in memory of Jim.
