W.W. “Jim” Witkop, of Whitney, succumbed to cancer surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Town Hall Estates in Whitney. A memorial graveside service honoring the memory of Jim will held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Bethlehem Cemetery with Pastor Timothy Ackers, officiating.

Jim was born on August 6, 1942, in Wolktsville, New York to Daniel and Edythe Mae (Roberts) Witkop. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Marines. After leaving the Marine Corps, he eventually resided in Fort Worth. He retired after a 33 year career at LTV Aerospace and moved to Whitney.

Maintaining his home and doing yard work gave him great joy. He made many cherished friendships while living in Whitney and he was admired for his loyalty and true friendship.

Survivors include his son, Danny Witkop of Fort Worth; his daughter, Carrie O’Neil and husband, Andy of Keller; 6 loving grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sellers of Fort Worth and Joann Burns and her daughter, Vicki Hurst and husband, Robert of Fort Worth; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

He will be dearly missed.
