Jim Worley, 62, of Whitney, passed away on August 5, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Bruce Worley and Dr. Carl Jennings, officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
Jim was born on October 23, 1952, in Clifton, Bosque County, to James and Willie Mae (Shaw) Worley. He started school in Arlington, attending John A. Kooken Elementary. At age 11, the family moved to Irving where he attained a high school diploma from Irving High School in 1971. Most of his growing-up years’ activities were centered around his church youth group. He played baseball with the YMCA and later found a love for softball for which he played, coached and worked as an umpire until his late fifties.
After high school, he went to work with his dad who had started a survey business, later becoming a partner.
In 1974, he married Sandra Price and three daughters were born from this union. Later, he married Susan Kepple Scott. Upon the retirement of his parents, he started his own survey company, All Star Staking, which he operated several years before retiring himself.
He and Susan moved to Whitney in 2011 to be near his parents where he enjoyed country living until his illness early this year.
Jim was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents, W.K. (Buster) and Fannie Mae Worley and Bruce and Margaret Shaw.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; his parents, of Whitney; his daughters, Angela Morris and husband, Calvin, Kristi Foley and friend, Brad Davis, Natalie Johnson and husband, Jarrod, all from the Dallas area, Sondra Scott of Arizona; one son, David Scott and wife, Erin of Colorado; grandchildren, Cory and Kaitlyn Morris of Lewisville, Mckailyn and Loki Foley of Garland, Dylan Ortega and husband, Aan of Arizona, Hannah and Keiffer Scott of Colorado and Nikki Scott of North Carolina; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ortega of Arizona; two brothers, Steve and wife, Cheri of Irving and Bruce and wife, Gabby of Waco; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
