Jimmy Baker, 58, of Itasca passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Central Baptist Church in Itasca with Rev. Gene Farquhar. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Jimmy was born May 11, 1958 in Hillsboro to Earl Washington and Jeanette (Chapman) Baker. He was a 1976 graduate of Itasca High School. On June 30, 1979, Jimmy was united in marriage to Karen Basye. For the past 38 years, he worked as a painter for Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. He and Karen owned and operated Jimmy’s Cornerstore in Itasca for about 14 years. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Jimmy especially loved riding his Harley Davidson and also enjoyed tinkering with automobiles. He was of the Methodist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Baker of Itasca; children, Melani Clendening and husband, Carl, of Itasca and Timothy Baker and wife, Amy, of Lubbock; two brothers, Earl Gene Baker and wife, Cindy, of Keller and Jerry Wayne Baker and wife, Karen, of Fort Worth; sister, Mary Beth Henson and husband, Leon, of Itasca; grandson, Toby Wayne Clendening of Itasca; father and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Martha Basye of Itasca; and aunt and uncle, June and James Henderson of Itasca.
