Jimmy Wayne Bynum

Jimmy Wayne Bynum, 74, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at his residence.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Jimmy was born June 19, 1947, in Plainview, Texas, to William and Helen (Wylie) Bynum.  He was a 1965 graduate of DeSoto County High School in Arcadia, Florida.  Following graduation, Jimmy attended preaching school at Sunset School of Preaching and became a Church of Christ minister.  He preached in Smyer, TX, Sedona, AZ, Maypearl, TX, and Dalhart, TX.

From November 7, 1966, until he was honorably discharged on November 7, 1969, Jimmy served in the United States Army as a dust-off pilot for the 254th Medi Vac.  After his service time, he sprayed orange groves in Florida.  He later worked at Kerr Glass in Waxahachie as a machine operator for 20 years.  For several years, Jimmy served as a pilot for the Air Evac Lifeteams in Weatherford, Wichita Falls, West, and Hillsboro.

Jimmy was a very talented musician who played bluegrass all over the country.  He loved to fish and hunt in his spare time.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Laura Weil.

Survivors include his children, Jimmy H. Bynum, Stephen R. Bynum, and Rebecca L. White and husband, Bobby; four sisters, Joyce White, Edith Hornlein and husband, Gary, Jerry Ishe and husband, Joe, and Thelma Scribner; the mother of his children, Judy Culbertson; six grandchildren, John Montgomery, Juliana Cunkel-Bynum, Gavin Bynum, Heather Bynum, Joshua Green, and Lynsea White; and three great-grandchildren, John Montgomery, Steven Montgomery, and Raylee Maulin.
